‘Conscious offline shopping’ is the credo that Petra and Peter Winkler set themselves as a clear goal in 2014 when they opened their shop Zimmer Kuchl Kabinett on Linz's main square.
Regionality is at the forefront of their shop, along with a special shopping experience, the personal stories behind each product and an appreciation of the value of food that we might otherwise just buy quickly on the go. At Zimmer Kuchl Kabinett, on the other hand, ‘shopping like in the old days’ is celebrated. The shop stands for a conscious break from everyday life and focuses on the encounters between the people who share and promote the concept. Petra Winkler's product recommendation for moments of enjoyment: ‘Das Fruchterlebnis’ (The Fruit Experience), produced in Zell an der Pram.

‘Inspired by love’ is the motto of Jasmin Hofmann, who invites customers on very special themed journeys in her Yomia store with its café and bar atmosphere: From browsing through the selected range of perfumes, jewellery and fashion to a meditative yoga class, a cosy afternoon coffee or a sparkling after-work drink, you will find the right inspiration for personal exchange here around the clock.
Jasmin Hofmann appreciates that her regular customers always bring new faces to the shop, thus ensuring that the family atmosphere and community continue to grow. She particularly enjoys the variety in her everyday work between fashion, prosecco and yoga classes. Her current favourite items at Yomia are hand jewellery from Paris by Zag Bijoux.

Thanks to a tip from the community, there is a second shop recommendation on 23 December: Janna Binder took over the family business with more than 40 years of history from her mother five years ago and runs the XILING Fair Fashion shop in Linz's old town.
At XILING, sustainability fans and fashion enthusiasts will find fairly produced clothing and accessories that don't follow trends but are durable and stylish pieces made from natural materials such as hemp, bamboo, organic cotton and even eucalyptus, which are kind to the skin and can be worn comfortably with a clear conscience.
Customers reward the good quality of the products and the advice they receive with long-standing loyalty. ‘The fact that they are so kind, conscious and loyal to us’ is what Janna Binder is most happy about. She thrives in her job when she finds the right styles for her customers, ones that make them feel comfortable, beautiful and seen.
XILING recommends silk/wool undershirts as a must-have for winter, as they keep you nice and warm. Janna Binder's favourite shop in Linz after her own is Haut & Seele and Saint Charles: ‘Here I find the best advice and the finest care products for me.’

Traditional clothing meets modernity, far removed from kitschy Alpine romanticism – that's how you could describe the Weinbauer Tracht shop on Herrenstraße in Linz. For more than 30 years, the family business has had shops in Linz, Salzburg and Wels. The Weinbauer family particularly appreciates their customers' great trust in the expertise of their staff. Here, nothing is pushed on you, but instead you receive open and honest advice on which fashionable piece really suit you and which might be better left on the hanger.
Austrian traditional fashion naturally attracts many tourists to the shop. The international flair not only brings a varied atmosphere to the shop, but also challenges the staff to provide advice that meets everyone's needs. The must-have recommendation for winter is a cashmere waistcoat from ‘Daddy's Daughters’.

Opened in December 2024, the VOIX Store run by Volkshilfe OÖ in Linz's old town has now been offering selected second-hand items for young people for a year under the motto ‘Give clothes a second chance!’. Vintage fans will not only find exciting individual items in the shop, but can also be sure that they are contributing to the environment and the careful use of resources when they shop at the VOIX Store.
What's particularly nice is that many customers like to leave an additional amount of money on the counter as a direct donation to Volkshilfe when they visit the store. The current must-have item is the cardigan in the photo – but as the store only stocks selected vintage items, it may already be sold out! So, keep checking back for new fashion inspiration.

A unique, colour-coordinated world, detailed decorations, many items hand-sewn by grandma – all this awaits visitors to the Unsere Liebelei shop, founded in 2018 on Bischofstraße in Linz. Here you can find small souvenirs, pretty decorative items and gift ideas. Most of the products feature a little saying that motivates, touches the heart or even gives strength and quickly gets people talking.
The family atmosphere in the shop is not only unique for the employees, but also immediately noticeable to customers. The newly arrived book recommendation is therefore: ‘Follow Your Dreams’ by Kobi Yamanda, illustrated by Charles Santoso.
Shop 19 with T
Since 2021, Toni & Loni has become an integral part of Linzerie. In this children's concept store, parents (and anyone else who wants to treat their little ones) will find all kinds of carefully selected toys and expert advice on children's and baby clothing, most of which is made from organic cotton – with the exception of raincoats, of course.
Managing director Anton Sigl attaches great importance to regional origin when selecting the product range. No wonder, then, that many products are even homemade by his own grandmother! His must-have is definitely the Steiff teddy bear, because: ‘Every child needs a cuddly toy!’
Tip: In addition to the children's concept store in Linzerie, there is now another Toni shop to discover: Toni’s Schreiberei on Bischofstraße.

On 19 December, thanks to a tip from the community, there are two shop recommendations again: Sandra Pühringer has been running her shop trails - mehr als laufen in Linz Urfahr since July 2023, specialising purely in trail running products. Sharing the fun and love of trail running is just as important to her as sustainability and building a fair trade community. She regularly offers ‘fix-it-instead-of-dump-it’ workshops at Nähküche Linz as well as trail running workshops for the community.
In the shop, you can get tips for your next competition or just drop by for a chat. ‘It's just wonderful for me to see when customers place their trust in me,’ says Sandra Pühringer. She would like to express her sincere thanks to her customers for this. The trail running expert recommends a ‘super-comfortable trail running vest – nothing should pinch or move around!’ as a must-have.

Since 2017, small producers have had the opportunity to stock their own ‘Fachl’ (compartment) at Linz's main square in Michaela Rückl and Sabine Reisinger's shop `s Fachl.
The collaborative concept is inexpensive and low-risk for the producers and enables the two shop owners to offer a particularly colourful range of products in their shop.
In return, customers appreciate the great variety, quality and creativity of the resulting range. Even for the two entrepreneurs themselves, there is always something new and surprising to discover. `s Fachl now has more than 350 producers. With such a large selection, Michaela Rückl and Sabine Reisinger's favourite item is clear: the `s Fachl voucher!

For more than 30 years, the team at Boutique Ruby has been offering expert guidance in the world of women's fashion. The fashion store in the old town is still relatively new, having opened just under a year ago.
Petra Locker has dedicated herself primarily to customers who are open to new things and ‘extremely courageous,’ as she herself says. ‘If you have the desire and courage to rethink your style, you've come to the right place,’ the shop owner continues. Her greatest passion is putting together new collections, and one of her special recommendations is the collection by Anja Scherholt.

‘Beautiful, regional products that are natural and durable’ is how Andreas Schwarz describes his lovingly curated range of paper, writing and wooden toys in the Papiertiger shop. He has been at the Pfarrplatz location since 2016 and not only offers aesthetic and useful products, but also an open ear and heart, often for longer conversations.
He really thrives on arranging lots of small items so that they look beautiful, but the Kaweko AL Sport fountain pen is a particular joy for him. Tip: During Advent Papiertiger is open a little longer than usual!

Bernd Kussberger and Andreas Feitzlmaier have been running Optica Feitzlmaier Kussberger OG in the centre of Linz since 2003, offering special eyewear that is far removed from the mainstream and with a particular focus on individuality and precision. This is no coincidence, as the five-strong team includes three master craftsmen who particularly appreciate open-minded and courageous customers.
In addition to advising customers, their passion lies in the challenge of manufacturing eyewear and in the friendships they have developed with them over the years. One of their current favourites is the ‘Fossett’ model by Barton Perreira, made of acetate with titanium. They tell you more in their reel on Instagram.

Did you know? Since 2016, you can not only buy handmade sweets at the Naschkatze in shop in the old town, but even make them yourself! In their workshops, the two professional sweet tooths Anna & Anna show how hard caramels are made by hand according to old, traditional (and secret!) recipes.
The two entrepreneurs love seeing that their customers, regardless of age, still have a child inside them who is delighted by the individual sweets, which can also be personalised for occasions such as weddings and anniversaries. Tip for little Linz residents: celebrate your next children's birthday party at Naschkatze!

Bold, determined, colourful, cheeky and wild – these are the qualities that Nicole Aumayr has stood for since 2024 with her shop Moxie near Taubenmarkt. Here, customers can find little gems for every occasion, whether as gifts for others or for themselves.
What makes Nicole Aumayr special is not only the encounters with people who simply come into the shop to chat, but also her personal love of decorating and arranging the products. Her current favourite piece of jewellery shows just how cheeky she means it with Moxie: earrings with the message F***K!

Right next to the beauty products from Korea that we introduced to you yesterday, there is a touch of France in the air: since 2020, Renate Lugmayr has been enriching the Linz shop scene with selected French specialities at La Petit France on Graben.
In a cosy atmosphere, you can browse through a large selection of products and enjoy them right in the shop. Whether it's crémant by the glass or fresh French baguettes – culinary hearts beat faster here! There are also opportunities for events with 20 to 60 people. Renate's personal tip: La Fiole du Pape in its unique glass bottle shaped like a vine.
Shop 11 with K
Alisa Delić has devoted herself entirely to Korean skincare. Since 2024, her shop k-nara Korean Skincare & Beauty on Graben has not only offered comprehensive advice on skincare products, but also the opportunity to try everything out.
No wonder, then, that her skincare events are so popular and that her customers' faces literally glow in the before-and-after comparison. Integrating new products into skincare routines is a highlight of her job, and her personal recommendation is an anti-ageing cream with ginseng and fish stem cells! Find out more in the reel on Instagram.

Thanks to a tip from the community, there are also two shop recommendations for 11 December: The second shop from Slowfashion GmbH, owned by Anita Katzengruber and Christian Huber, is Kleider machen Leute on Herrenstraße.
They have been in Linz city centre since 2008 and have been passionate about their work from the very beginning. Slow fashion stands for fair and high-quality fashion in timeless designs. It's not about trends, but about consciously curated pieces that last a long time and feel good for people and the environment.
Anita Katzengruber's team appreciates their (often long-standing and loyal) customers' openness to sustainable fashion, their eye for quality and their delight in finding a piece that really suits them. For the sales team, the best part is finding out what customers really need through personal consultations, discovering new fair brands in the product range themselves, and constantly redesigning their shop as a cosy slow fashion destination.
For the cold season, a high-quality knitted jumper is a must-have, along with sustainable basics that always work. A brightly coloured woolly hat can also brighten up grey days wonderfully. ‘Don't forget,’ the team would like to add for Christmas, ‘buy less, but buy better!’
Shop 10 with J
The history of Kübl-Hüte e.U. began around 100 years ago in Linz city centre, and its Janout shop is now the only specialist hat shop in Linz. However, its specialisation is anything but ‘old hat’, as young generations have repeatedly discovered over the years that the huge selection in the shop and its own collection with the ‘Made with love’ label stand not only for quality but also for fashion statements.
The Janout team particularly appreciates its young male customers, who are becoming increasingly bold by choosing original designs and demonstrating their individuality in terms of colour. A special item in the range is currently the ‘Australia’ hat made from genuine cowhide.

Art and antiques, exclusively originals and no replicas: this is what Isolde Vintage & Design is known for since 2020 in Linz's Old Town. Senior manager Isolde and her son Christian Wimberger, together with Birgit Gföllner, ensure that originals are preserved and that nothing is restored to death.
They are rewarded for this by the delight of their customers, who occasionally repay them with wine and chocolate. Their personal highlight in everyday life is clearly finding new unique pieces, refurbishing them and finding the right customer for them. Their current favourite piece: the Italian bar by Harvey Guzzini from 1950.

Thanks to a tip from the community, there are also two shop recommendations for 9 December: inthebox is one of two shops owned by Slowfashion GmbH, run by Anita Katzengruber and Christian Huber. Since 2018, inthebox has been offering carefully selected streetwear made from durable materials: sustainable trainers, bags, rucksacks and essentials that you really use are part of the carefully curated range, which includes brands such as VEJA, FREITAG and Fair Fashion Label.
The inthebox team values honest conversations with customers and discussions about quality, design and fair values above all else. A lively day-to-day in the shop, when people come in, chat and laugh together, and then find the ‘perfect match’ – exactly what suits them – is the best reward.
Statement from the inthebox team: ‘Thank you for supporting sustainable alternatives and thereby strengthening the small shops that make our cityscape so unique. We wish you a conscious, relaxed and wonderful Christmas season and look forward to your visit to Herrenstraße.’
Shop 8 with H
Since 1986, Regina Hinterberger and her team at Handarbeitsstadl located between Hauptplatz and Taubenmarkt, have been known not only for their excellent advice on great wool, but also for the very special relaxed and chilled atmosphere in the shop. The reason for this unique atmosphere is literally obvious: they are relaxed because they do handicrafts – ‘deeply relaxed through knitting meditation,’ as they say.
The three of them are especially happy when new wool arrives in the shop. But also when customers show off their finished works and amaze the team. Their current product tip: the colourful merino blend, which not only brings colour to the grey winter, but also keeps you really warm!
Shop 7 with G
If you're looking for trading card games, tabletop games and accessories, you'll find what you're looking for at the Game Store in Linz Urfahr. They even have very special trading cards, such as the Magic card ‘Black Lotus’, which fetches a hefty price of almost €2,800 in the Collectors Edition!

Thanks to a tip from the community, we have two shop recommendations for 7 December: At GAMINGPC.STORE in last by Schachermayer, you'll find the right hardware, reliability, quality and personal advice. The company stands for honest work, fair prices and the courage to think regionally. Because in the end, it's not just how fast the PC runs that counts, but also who built it. ‘Every euro that stays here strengthens our region,’ shop owner Hannes Statzer is convinced.
He appreciates the appreciation and gratitude his customers show him. He notices their loyalty to his shop and pride in his products through many recommendations and public reviews. ‘Consulting is our thing, of course,’ Hannes Statzer continues, adding that the team is completely dedicated to this and customers get exactly the PC they need for their requirements.
Shop 6 with F
In his shop Flora Naturprodukte, managing director Alexander Wurz and his brother have been cultivating a family atmosphere since 2019, focusing on personal advice and high-quality regional products.
He particularly appreciates his customers' openness to new products and the trust they place in him when seeking advice. Personally, he swears by vitamin D3, K2 and magnesium to keep himself healthy and fit. He explains why customers sometimes misunderstand his range, which also includes CBD products, in a reel on Instagram.

For almost a century, the traditional eiler store has been one of the top addresses in Linz city centre when it comes to finding the perfect shoes or attractive bags. Peter Bangelmeier and his team offer a carefully curated range with a large selection of brands. Service and expertise in footwear fashion are a matter of course in his shop.
The managing director greatly appreciates the fact that buying footwear is not just a necessity, but can also be a very emotional decision. It is not uncommon for him to hear ‘Wow, that's great!’ when he opens a new shoe box for customers during a consultation. His personal favourite shoes include Clarks Originals Wallabees. An anecdote from eiler is told in the reel on Instagram.

On the way from the main square to the old town, the Donau Stein Design shop catches the eye in Hofgasse. Since 1997, individual pieces of jewellery and unique items have been made here from Danube stones.
Fabian Almesberger welcomes customers from all over the world to his shop and hears many different languages every day. Tourists in particular like to take a piece of Danube stone home with them. He loves to constantly develop his products and tinker with the settings for the natural Danube stones. His favourite product is a three-piece piece of jewellery made from rare eclogite garnet.

The Cermak family's jewellery shop has been a fixture in Linz since 1911. Exquisite, one-of-a-kind pieces and good value for money have been the hallmarks of the shop for many years. Franz Cermak shares his love of beautiful jewellery with his customers.
What the jeweller values most about his profession is the creation of unique pieces in his workshop – especially the fulfilment of special requests – and generally the contact with his customers. Franz Cermak reveals which shop in the city centre – apart from his own – he particularly likes in a reel on Instagram.

‘Life without good coffee is possible, but pointless,’ says Peter and Eva Warhol's website. They run their café, Barista Brunch Linz, with a lot of passion and homemade specialities, such as the croissant bake, which is available every Saturday and has the potential to become a cult cake in Linz.
The two of them appreciate the good conversations they have with their customers the most. Not only does this mean there is always something new to learn, but it also helps them develop good relationships and even friendships. Another thing they like about being self-employed is that they can decide for themselves what they are passionate about in their work. In addition to the croissant bake, Peter and Eva also recommend their cheesecake, which is made to their own recipe. You can find out more about Barista Brunch Linz on Instagram.
