Palino and the Team Led by Sebastian Weidlinger
Palino is a mobile app designed for children aged 5 to 8 that provides digital support for reading traditional children’s books. Rather than replacing physical books, Palino complements them in a playful way. Palino, the digital reading buddy, listens attentively, tracks reading progress, and offers helpful tips when needed. After each chapter, Palino unlocks interactive games, quiz questions, and mini audio adventures tailored to the child’s interests—making learning fun, personalized, and engaging.
GEMMA – The Municipal App by Stefan Sterlich
Austria’s developed land area is growing three times faster than its population. To achieve the renewed land protection goals set by the federal government, innovative solutions in municipal planning are essential. That’s where GEMMA comes in. Building on the results of an FFG Impact Innovation project and in collaboration with five pilot municipalities, GEMMA is developing the “Gemeindemap”—a map-based transparency and communication tool for participatory spatial planning.
The four projects were judged by an independent panel of experts consisting of Prof. Elisabeth Berger (JKU), Prof. Johanna Anzengruber (FH OÖ), Claudia Froschauer (self-employed/Forum Medienbildung), Univ.-Ass. Florian Nimmervoll, MBA PhD. (Kunstuni Linz) and Clemens Zillner, MA (tech2b). They awarded points for the following criteria: project planning, founding idea or business model, scalability and unique selling points, opportunities, challenges, risks, impact, milestones and people or team involved.
In addition, there was also a free ticket for Gerold Weisz's FHOÖ start-up programme for:
The Ticket for “Wanna Be a Founder” Went to BloodSync and Stefan Tatalovic
BloodSync is a digital platform designed to optimize perioperative management for patients on oral anticoagulation. Its goal is to improve collaboration among general practitioners, specialists, and hospitals in order to prevent serious complications and reduce unnecessary surgery cancellations due to incorrect anticoagulation. The project addresses a critical gap in the healthcare system: In Austria alone, an estimated 10–15% of elective surgeries are postponed or canceled due to mismanaged anticoagulation—resulting in significant financial consequences for hospitals, added costs for the healthcare system, and health risks for patients.
