Utopia Linz

The United Nations projects that about 75% of the population will live in cities by 2050. This rapid urbanisation poses a great challenge, but also offers an opportunity to change the system. New concepts are needed to respond to the environmental and social challenges of our time. Sustainability and quality of life will depend on collective action and jointly devised solutions.

In order for the transformation of Linz into a climate-neutral and adaptable industrial city as specified by 2040 to succeed, visions, ideas and sufficient courage for necessary changes are needed. With "Linz hACkT" we want to search for ideas and projects that will help us to successfully master this transformation.

 Possible questions for this are:

• How can sustainable mobility be implemented in Linz?
• How can digital solutions lead to more ecological sustainability?
• How can IOT contribute to a more sustainable lifestyle in the daily lives of citizens?
• How can available city data be used to give citizens access to relevant information?
• How can we recycle in a meaningful way in Linz in the future and how can we create a repair culture?

We are also open to other questions in the context of sustainability and ecological transformation.

We are looking for hackers, makers, experts, initiatives and teams as well as visionaries who want to take up this challenge together for a future worth living in Linz!

How can I participate?

Contact us as an individual, expert, team or initiative. You can register directly with a concrete idea, or we can match you with suitable teams or visionaries so that you can develop an idea together. Information on registration will follow!

We offer hackers an appropriate server infrastructure.

Makers have the possibility to use the infrastructure of our partners (DevLol Hackerspace Linz, Grand Garage, ...) for free during the Hackathon. The respective local COVID regulations must be observed.

During the hackathon, you will also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with mentors from various disciplines and trades, or to get input on specific questions.
