Performing street music in Linz has become more expensive due to a federal tax, see Straßenkunstbescheid. A post on our participation platform addressed this problem - at the same time, Isabella from our team has already been working on an alternative with Roland Pachner from the association Verein Wir Altstadt Linz. Tadaaa! From May 17, 2024 there will be: OPEN STAGE - the free cabaret stage at the Alter Markt, Old Town Linz.

The Open Stage is available for your performance every Thursday to Saturday from 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 7pm. Simply book an appointment, enter all the necessary documents and information and perform in Linz's old town once your registration has been confirmed!

Alter Markt in Old Town of Linz, 3 pm to 7 pm

On Friday, 17 May, the official opening of the Open Stage will take place from 3 pm - of course with a colorful, varied program:

Free entry. The event takes place in all weathers.
Open Stage is an initiative of Mayor Klaus Luger.

Attention: Not everything is allowed!

As the permanent use of the Open Stage is only permitted for a very specific purpose, there are some general conditions to be observed:

  • A performance is only possible via official appointment booking (see button above)
  • Instruments may only be played unplugged and quietly (e.g. wind instruments muted).
  • This means that there is no electricity etc. - and no additional infrastructure - just the stage.
  • Of course, cabaret also means that no reprehensible or inflammatory content may be disseminated on the open stage.
  • Fees are only paid by the audience.
  • And to ensure that the allocation remains fair, you can only claim a maximum of 2 hours and a maximum of 3 times per month on the Open Stage.
