Since June 2023 there has been a competence centre for companies and their key foreign employees in the New City Hall with the aim of handling the procedure for the Red-White-Red Card in a particularly service-oriented and speedy manner. All expats who have already registered their main residence in Linz or are planning to do so will find the right contact persons in the Residence Law Department in the newly established Business Immigration Office (BIOL).
Together with private providers, full provision is guaranteed in the kindergarten and after-school care sector in Linz. After-school care centres are open all year round and the range of care for children under 3 years of age is constantly being expanded. For young people and families there are counselling centres in the city districts offering specific events.
In the Wissensturm Linz, very close to the main railway station, you will find the adult education centre, the city library, the learning centre LeWis and the DORFTV Lab. The course programme covers all areas of adult education: languages, society, lifelong learning, health, nutrition, sports, nature, technology, culture, creativity and there is also an extensive range of courses for children and young people.
