The "Climate Action Night x Sciencity" on Linz's Main square takes place after the "Symposium for a Climate-Social City (Climate Fund Symposium)" and invites you to stirring lectures, science slams, live music and climate pub quizzes into the night.

This symposium - part of the Climate Action Days Linz 2022 - aims to inform and involve citizens on the topic of climate change.

Based on the concept of climate-social policy, the discussion is related to the city of Linz:

what are the challenges in climate protection and climate change adaptation and what measures are being implemented in the city of Linz,
which participants (citizens, initiatives and associations, businesses, NGOs, the administration, research institutions) are active in climate work in a variety of ways
how citizens can participate and get involved in climate policy processes; and
what the next relevant steps could be on the way to a climate-social city of Linz.

On Saturday, Linz's Main Square will be transformed into a Climate Action Zone: interactive hands-on stations, a repair café, workshops, excursions, the "Climate Experience Room" in the Pfarrgasse and much more information on topics like climate, transport and energy awaits the citizens.

The Main Day is the highlight of the Climate Action Days Linz and, with the format "Climate Council meets Citizens", for the first time offers Linzers the opportunity to talk to the members of the Climate Council. In addition, numerous excursions will be offered to special climate-relevant places in Linz, such as the Climate Oasis Linz / Lustenau of the Schwemmland Association, the hydrogen pilot plant of voestalpine or the deep space "Welcome to Planet B" of the AEC, which will either start from the Main square or have the meeting point directly on site.

Countless information stands and hands-on activities await you on the Main square:

Talks with the Climate Council and information on the climate fund projects of the Climate Office at the Enter_Tainer.
the Department of Urban Climatology and Environment (Magistrat) will also be on site to provide information on the urban climate.
Scientists for Future Upper Austria, Climate Alliance Upper Austria, the Coordination Office for Bat Protection and Research in Austria and a repair café run by Volkshilfe Upper Austria will also be present.
visit the Climate Experience Room in the Pfarrgasse
be amazed by the abseiling action of the Climbers for Future from the roofs of the Main square.
Fridays for Future Linz will be there with a climate wish tree, quiz wheel and homemade buttons
Kuddelmuddel offers face painting, game tables and rocketing children's song
the Integration Office will provide information on climate change in several languages and paint a #ClimateTattoo on your skin.
with the Plastic Garage you can recycle plastic directly on the spot

The "Climate Action Days Linz" is a Green Event!

Make Climate your Topic is the motto of the event. As organizers, we take this seriously and strive for environmentally-friendly and socially just actions throughout the event, beyond just the content.

Mobility and Arrival:

The event venue is located in the heart of Linz - at the Main Square. This allows for convenient and quick arrival by foot, bicycle, tram, or bus.

If you are arriving by car, please consider carpooling whenever possible.

Waste:

For this project, ecological resource management is a top priority, ranging from waste prevention, repair, upcycling, to recycling of various products. We also have numerous interactive activities, such as plastic shredding and molding into new forms, repairing old electronic devices, and upcycling clothing. For the waste that cannot be avoided, we have installed two clearly visible waste collection points on site.

Food and Drinks:

At our event, there will be no catering provided. However, the restaurants and cafes at Hauptplatz are happy to serve you food and drinks. If you bring your own food and drinks, we recommend using reusable dishes and bottles, or opting for deposit bottles. If waste is generated, we kindly ask you to dispose of it properly at the two waste collection points provided.
