H2 CONVENTION

In late November 2023, the inaugural H2 Convention for Upper Austria and the Greater Linz area took place. Over the course of two specialized days at the Tabakfabrik, experts delved into the discussion surrounding hydrogen and its role in achieving a carbon-neutral industry.

One notable aspect was the overwhelming interest witnessed during the Public Day. The highlight of the event was the explosive experiment conducted by Science-Buster Martin Moder, featuring our hydrogen expert Dominik.

SMARTPHONE DAYS

Together with Emporia, the Volkshochschule Linz, and SelbA, we once again dedicated the last week of October to supporting the seniors of the city of Linz in the field of digitalization. Following a successful opening event at the Wissensturm, there were opportunities for personal consultations and assistance in the Volkshäuser.

SCIENCITY BRAINSTAGE

In September, we once again turned Linz's main square into a lecture theatre. Students and lecturers from the Upper Austrian universities gave us an insight into their research in entertaining science slams and provided many aha moments.

CLIMATE NEUTRALITY CONCEPT

The city of Linz is currently in the process of drafting a comprehensive climate neutrality concept. Task forces from the departments within the municipal administration and the businesses of the Linz Group have been collaborating intensively for over a year. Additionally, a significant citizen survey was conducted with the assistance of City Research 2023.

Oliver and Michaela from our department are currently working on summarizing the developed measures in a catalog. More information will be available by the end of Q1 2024!

TOUR OF INNOVATION IN LINZ

The Linz Innovation Tour is a fixture in our annual calendar - in the penultimate week of school in 2023, we were once again out and about in the districts of Linz with numerous interactive stations on digitalisation, technology, robotics, plastics recycling and hydrogen.

CONTEST: Children and young people are particularly enthusiastic about the interactive stations on our Innotour. So today we're giving away 4 goodie bags full of Linz AG giveaways for kids with crayons, a colouring book, a card game, reflector tape and a multifunctional scarf.

CREATIVE BUREAUCRACY FESTIVAL

Our Enter_Tainer was honoured in Berlin in 2023 as one of the most creative public administration projects! We are particularly proud that a small container that brings our colleagues from the various divisions of Linz City Council in front of the curtain has been so well received internationally.

Ana and Thomas (City of Linz Communications) and Katharina (via video) accepted the award in Berlin in June.

TIP: You can hand over donations to #teammagistratlinz for B37, Tiertafel and Frauenhaus at the Adv_Enter_Tainer on Hauptplatz until 22.12.23. There is also plenty of Adv_Enter_Tainment with music and acts.

INNOVATION IN POLITICS

In May 2023, Ana and Silvia travelled to Warsaw for the final of the Innovation in Politics Awards. There we were able to gain lots of interesting impressions of new ideas in administration and citizen participation and exchange ideas with the European Capital of Democracy network.

We had a full house in April at Sofar Sounds in the Old Town Hall. This time, the Sofar Sounds Linz team chose the foyer as the secret location for their "Songs from a Room" and conjured up a delightful concert evening in the town hall for us!

LINZ HACKT SOCIAL INNOVATION

For the third time in March, creative minds from the Linz community came together for a weekend to collaboratively address societal challenges. Under the theme Linz hACkT Social Innovation, a total of 8 teams ultimately presented their ideas.

In the jury and community voting, the projects "CommuniCheck" by Jan and Julia, as well as "Fußheber" by Team Cyberducks, stood out and convinced the audience.

NEW YEAR, NEW WORK

We kicked off the new year 2023 with our exchange format Linz Connects IT & Economy. On the topic of New Work, Dynatrace graciously opened the doors of their Linz headquarters for us. A heartfelt thank you once again to Viktoria Leibetseder! Architect Gerhard Abel shared insights into the architectural features of the building, aligning with the company's culture, and Patrick Rammerstorfer provided input on the topic of New Workspaces.
